Three Things To Avoid When You're Studying
Studying is just like driving, you need to have the right amount of concentration for you to be driving well. This will help you avoid any road accidents, and it'll also help you navigate better. Especially when you're on the freeway, it's really important that you pay close attention to where you're driving and where your exit is.
It's kind of just like studying; you need to pay close attention. And so, in order for you to focus more on your studying, you need to know what kind of things to avoid when you do. It may differ from one person to another, but nevertheless you still need to make sure that you steer clear from these if you're still studying.
1. If you get drowsy pretty quick, don't ever study lying down.
Sleeping could be one of your biggest enemies when you are studying. There are a whole lot of students out there who get sleepy faster than their own good. Give that guy a book and he'll be out cold in ten minutes.
If you're that type of person, you've got to make it a point to yourself to make sure that you do everything you can to ensure that you don't fall asleep amidst your studying. This means you should try to avoid beds, couches or anything that you could sleep on. It all depends on you though if you want to avoid sleeping during your study hours.
2. Don't overwork yourself.
Burning out could be a very scary thing to experience. All that pressure mixed with frustration could spell disaster to you if you're studying hard for a big test. Overworking yourself could mean that you're reading too many pages in so little time, or trying to solve too many problems also in so short a time.
If you're a student that frequently does this, you might be able to relate to this thing. Avoid this by gradually studying a few days in advance. You can't expect yourself to cover a huge load to study in just one night, right? That's the perfect breeding ground for frustration and stress. Subjecting yourself to this much pressure is definitely not a good idea.
3. Avoid studying on an empty stomach.
Studying hungry might prove to be quite a challenge for you. You tend to lack concentration when you're hungry. This is also the reason why teachers and schools urge their students to have a good breakfast before they leave for school. This is to ensure that you can manage to focus well enough for you to learn your lessons.
Studying with a satisfied appetite is just like eating a hearty breakfast. Your brain needs nutrients to function properly. If you deprive yourself of food in favor of studying, you'll find it a little bit harder to concentrate or focus in order for you to study well. If you really don't want to stop studying, bring a sandwich or something so that you'll have something to eat if you get hungry.
