Three Ways To Keep The Learning Fresh
The brain is a sponge for information. This means that it readily absorbs information and holds it within. But in the same manner that it readily absorbs the information, it can also easily be lost when not enough time and effort is put into its upkeep and maintenance. What would happen then is called memory gaps, which is clearly information stored but lost leading to lapses in information available in the brain. This is so much evident in learning a language. Once the language is imbibed, the information can easily be lost and thus leading to gaps in the investment for learning. How then can one retain the language learned? Here are three ways for one to keep the language fresh in the mind.
1) Join a club.
The best way to keep the language fresh is by using the language as often and as commonly as possible. The easiest way is to join a club or special interest group in your community. By attending the activities, or even through simple conversation, the language learned can be used repeatedly. This repetitive use of the information and the ability to draw such information use easily depending upon the stimulus is called acquired learning. The faster the rate that one is able to draw the information for use determines the greater ability to speak the language learned. As they say, practice makes perfect and how best can one achieve this but by joining a club.
2) Interact with the native speakers.
The best way to interact with native speakers of a language learned is by going to their native land. There is a saying, do as the Romans do in order to be a Roman. And this adage is so very true in using a language. Eating the food, drinking the water and seeing the sights not only provides a great escape for the body but stretches the mind by reinforcing the language with the life and culture of the people who speak it.
3) Teach or learn some more.
This form of keeping the language fresh in the mind cuts two ways. One can either teach it, which would help reinforce the language through shared communication or study some more, which essentially builds on the language already learned for deeper understanding and ability to use the language. So by joining an educational institution, either as the service provider or as the service recipient, one can keep the language fresh in the mind.
By learning a language one can further expand one's horizons. But the maintenance and upkeep of that information does not stop there. One would lose the ability to speak the learned tongue and eventually be unable to use the information at all. So how can one keep the language fresh? By joining a club or traveling to the land of the language, or becoming part of an educational institute, one can keep the language alive in the mind and further allow one to explore their possibilities for success and greater self development.
