Language is the means one can communicate one's thoughts and feelings. According to legend, it is one king's ambition to reach the gods' home in the heavens which caused the proliferation of languages. The gods, in their anger for the human's impertinence, struck down the tower and in order to make the king's plan result to disarray, the once united nation was given the gift of different languages for their people that somehow lead to anarchy and confusion. This is a showcase of the power of language to unite people to action. So how can one harness this ability for their benefit? Choose a language to learn and here are some tips when undertaking this.

1) Look at your purpose.

The main drive to learn a language is the use of the language in everyday life. One would not invest time, money and effort into something that has no redeeming value later on. The language can be used in business or in the social scene. See if the language would be a value added asset which can be used to generate more finances and more business for you. This would be the motivation one would draw out when the going gets tough. Without this purpose, the learning can be very difficult.

2) Choose an interesting language.

Choose a language that excites and piques one's interest. This cannot be just about business but can be about history and culture. It can be about cooking or historical artifacts. The ultimate cultural experience in learning language is being able to converse fluently with a citizen of that language. Imagine, being able to drink coffee by the Louvre ordering a cappuccino in fluent French or ordering bratwurst in the German capital. 3) Enroll.

To be able to learn in the quickest possible way, one needs to learn in a language school or institute. This is for two purposes. The first is to keep an air of discipline over the learning process. Without this compulsion factor, the learning would be a lot slower and more difficult. The second is to obtain a certificate which imbues one with the expertise over the language. The certificate is proof that one has learned and is able to use the language properly. So it would be a good move to enroll in a reputable institution to learn the language.

In choosing a language to learn, many factors need to be taken into consideration. First is the purpose of the undertaking. Second is the interest of the student. And finally, there is the need to invest in the study by enrolling in an educational institution. All three guidelines must be very close to the learner's heart for one to succeed in this undertaking.
